    count records mutiple qureries

I have a query called ABE and it has many duplicate records. So, I did a query using a simple query and summary, and used count feature. This gave me unique records. Then I have two queries ABE am and ABE PM and did the same thing. I now have three queries of uniques records.
When I try to count the list of records in another query it work great for the first one. If I try to add the other two it gives me the same total wihich makes no sense to me. The third row counts are the actual counts and I can get these by running a separate query for each table. However, if I try to put all three tables on one query I end up with the fourth row result. Any ideas. I have some 80 groups and I need totals for each group.
