    when saving a record problem

in access 2007, when i entered data into form, the entered data is saved in the table is alternative row. i.e., first row is primarykey field and foreign key fields are filled other fields are empty. in the second row the entered data is saved. likewise when 3rd row is blank 4th row is filled with data. 5th row is blank and 6th row is data. likewise. totally i add only 3 records but in the table 6 records. it is a master/detail form. when viewing the foregin key field related master to detail in detail form shows 2 rows. but i entered only one row. please help me as early as possible.

    the table looks like

id1 id2 name fname location zip
    1 3
    1 3 dddd kkkkk lkkkk 88888
    2 6
    2 6 ghgh hjhjh jhjhj 77676

Are you aware of the fact that Access will save a Dirty record *any* time you try and leave that record? That includes moving the focus from a SubForm to a MainForm.

Access will save the SubForm record when you move the focus from the SubForm to the MainForm. You do not need the Save button.

I'm not sure I understand your issue. As I said, the record will be saved automatically regardless of how you attempt to exit the form.
