Post Single Image with multiple entries HELP!

    Hi All,

I just registered and to be honest I just started working with Access so forgive me if this is a basic issue. I have used Filemaker and MS Dynamics databases in the past so that's how I am fumbling through this.

I am trying to design a DB driven product catalog for my company and I an running into an issue in my query/reports. What I need to do is generate a report layout with a single embedded image per product type and multiple dimensions and pricing along side the image. What I have done so far is setup two tables. One contains the main item (Category, ItemName, Image) The other has all of the dimensions, specs and prices. I can query and sort this to how I need it with one exception which is that it is outputting the image on every line from the dimensions table. Since grouping and sorting are not allowed on binary fields I'm not sure how to accomplish this.

I'm doing this all remotely on my home PC so forgive the lack of screenshots or files. If this is too difficult a question without them I can upload them a bit later.

    Thanks,
    Charles

I had a similar issue. Resolved by creating a group section and putting the image control in the group header. From your example, looks Category or ItemName would be the grouping criteria and the dimensions would be in detail section.

I ended up with my images stored external from the database, just image name stored in text field. However, think at one point I had the images embedded in Attachment field and the same report structure worked.

Thanks for the reply, I actually managed to get it to work just as you put it above. Unfortunately that does not work for my layout needs so for the mean time I'm still playing with it.

Please reply to this thread with any new information or opinions.
