built in functions in access 2010

I'm just moving from 2003 to 2010, and having problems with some reports and forms. The Date() and Trim() functions produce error messages. Is this because I am missing some library? If so, how do I determine what I need to add and how do I do that? TIA JS

I have not experienced any differences in using those functions from Access 2003 through 2010. Never had to do anything special after installing program.

How are you using them? Show the code/expressions.
How to attach file: http://www.accessforums.net/showthread.php?t=70301 To provide db: copy, remove confidential data, run compact & repair, zip w/Windows Compression.

I was just using Date() in a report header. And I used Trim() in a statement within a control in a report. I believe there is no problem with the syntax - I rebuilt the statement using "Built-in functions" just in case. I even started a brand new report and put only Date() (via built-in functions) in the report and it comes up with #Name? in that text box. I also notice that in some macro files SetValue is an unknown function. I would imagine that this is a reference problem. I did read the article on references and tried the trick where you uncheck a ref, click OK, then go back and recheck it. That didn't do anything. I suspect there is some box that should be checked, but how would I know which one? TIA JS

    Still cannot replicate issue.

Does this happen in all database files? On other computers?

I am thinking corruption somewhere. However, I have no experience with Windows 8 nor Access 64 bit.

Having shut down the computer overnight, some things are now working that didn't before - like the SetValue in macros and Trim() in report controls. Date() still gives the error #Name?, but using Int(Now()) works. Mystery? Bugs? It will probably be blamed on the user. I'm sure there is more in store as I explore further.
