Macros from 2007 to 2000

I have Access 2007



I want to give my father a copy of the program I have built, but he only has Access 2000.

The Database 'works', but the embedded macros for the command buttons on the self-made switchboard didn't stay in the file when I loaded it onto my father's computer.

I just saved the 2007 database as a 2000 file format and the macros are still there on my computer.

What did I do to make the macros dissappear when all I did was copy and paste the program?

What do you mean 'copy and paste' - how would that convert to 2000 format?

If you save as 2000 format I expect all the embedded macros would be converted to VBA or regular macros.

I selected the 'Save As' option from the Button and saved it as a 2000 file format.

Then I copied and pasted the file onto a flash drive and took it straight to my father's computer.

When I copied and pasted it to the computer and opened it to look at the design view of the codes and macros, there was nothing there.

It offered me the choice again from the box with the three dots - Macro, Expression, or VBA

That is odd. You don't get error messages about incompatible features?

Maybe break up the conversion process. Make a copy of the original. Convert all embedded macros to VBA. Then SaveAs 2000.

Not that you have to be very careful in copying Access files to flash/thumb drives! There are many, many reports of this causing problems, and the best guess, as to the cause, is that people are doing this in too big of a hurry! Apparently many of these drives report that the copying process is complete somewhat prematurely, when dealing with Access files, causing part of the file to be 'left behind,' so to speak! The reason I consider this as the probable answer is that many people report the problem resolving when they give the drive an extra thirty seconds or so, after it reports the copy completed, before removing the flash media.
