Angry Exporting the report to MS Excel

After I run a report and preview it the option to export it to excel is not available. I can see the button on the Quick Access Toolbar.. Just not available to be used.

I can export data from tables to excel though... just not reports.

    Any suggestions?

If you are looking for a straight data extract to Excel and are not worried so much about formatting or subtotalling, queries often work best for exporting data to Excel, as you have the ability to filter your data and do calculations in queries.

    Thanks for replying JoeM.

I'm however working with employees that don't adjust well to change.
The option was available and worked well (with windows vista) for their purpose before I upgraded they computer to Windows 7.

Well... not so much an upgrade. I reformatted the hard drive and installed windows 7 and other programs from scratch.

The big controlling factor is what is the purpose of this export? What is it used for?
That will determine the best way of going about what you want to do.

I also work with a very non-technical staff that is resistant to change. When creating Access databases, everything is menu and button driven, so they do not need to know how to do anything another than clicking buttons! Most of them don't even realize that they are using Access. You may want to design your database in a similar matter. All they need to do is click some buttons, and the rest happens behind the scenes.

A number of procedures are conducted... All driven by the click of buttons.

There is a particular step where they prefer to have visual confirmation of the data to be exported before it is sent to excel. Data formatting is not an issue.

I can always have them close the report then click another button to export the data but that's another step that is not necessary if the export button that's available in MS Excel continues to work for their purpose.

The excel files are the last step needed with the raw data. The file is not imported to another program or anything. It's simply available just incase they may want to email the file.

I created a process something like this just a few days ago. I have a form with two buttons, one to View the data (if they wish) and one to export the data.
I am not really a fan of how Reports export to Excel anyway. It never seems to format nicely. If I export a report, I usually choose the PDF option.
After I run a report and preview it the option to export it to excel is not available. I can see the button on the Quick Access Toolbar.. Just not available to be used.
Back to your original question, in Access 2007, I see the export option on the External Data menu. If you are in Print Preview, I also see it on that menu. Both appear to be enabled for me. If they are not enabled for you, can you describe how this report is being opened (if by code, can you post your code)?

Correction: I'm not at all able to export in excel format.

Not even if it's event driven.

Is there a plugin or something that I need to install?

I am guessing that maybe you don't have the latest Service Pak installed? See: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/934833/en-us
