    Access 2003 pop-up forms

So I have the fairly simple Access Database (2003) that all my team are going to start using to track all their service requests.

Works well in every environment (win7/XP, 32bit/64)

This DB works just fine on every other user machine

One team member was able to open the DB but not able to open 2 forms on the DB
after pulling my hair out for 2 days scouring the code that was the culparte , I finally landed on the fact that those 2 forms were pop-up forms.
So for some reason he was not able to open the pop-ups.
I had him reformat his machine. Add an AV and Access 2003. That is ALL that is on this machine. He still can't open the pop-up in the DB (even with AV disabled).

Any body have any ideas what might be going on?

YES, I know I can make the not be pop-up and that's what I will do if no solution is found. I have just never run into this problem before

    Thanks for reading

    Dave

Is this a multi-user split database, with each user having a copy of the Front End on their machine and linked to a common, networked Back End?

Or are these stand-alone apps, i.e. does each user have his own copy of the complete database on his PC?

    Multi user - yes
It is NOT a split DB (it really is a very basic DB)
The DB is rarely open at the same time by 2 people (different shifts).
The issue is only on his machine and it happened as soon as the DB was put in place before ANYONE else had opened it.(meaning this issue is NOT related to it being a multi-user DB)
No other User has this problem

    thanks for the reply

Being 'a very basic DB' doesn't really matter, nor does the fact that 'the DB is rarely open at the same time by 2 people!' Having multiple users sharing a single, non-split database, sitting on a network drive is the sure way to repeated episodes of corruption as well as other problems! Multiple users simply have to work off of a split database, with each user having their own copy of the Front End, which contains everything except the data/tables, on their respective hard drives, and a Back End with all Tables on a shared drive.

Being in forced retirement, I spend 6-8 hours a day here and on other Access forums/newsgroups, and over the past six years have seen dozens and dozens of reports just like yours! And it can only happen to one user. The really insidious thing is that the app can work for extended periods of time, for multiple users, before the troubles begin! But once it does, they become chronic, which is to say they occur over and over and over again!

Having said that, when apps run fine on one machine and not on another or run fine in one version and not when run under a newer version, one of the things you have to think about is missing references. If you haven't checked for this problem before, here are Doug Steele's detailed instructions on how to troubleshoot the problem:

    http://www.accessmvp.com/DJSteele/Ac...nceErrors.html

While all versions have bugs, I used Access 2003 for eight years without encountering this type of thing, and the version is old enough that I would expect something as basic as this would have already been well documented. I suspect that the fact that these two errant Forms are Popup Forms is simply coincidental. I think something else that occurs when they are opened is causing the problem.
