Access database - different versions...problems?

Hi,



We have an Access database created with Access 2000 and currently have users entering data into the database with Access versions 2003 and 2007, can this possibly be causing any issues? Nothing special has ever been done to the database as far as I know ever since it was created way back when.


We are currently experiencing some weird issues as far as duplicate items and missing data...so we are wondering if different versions connecting to the same Access 2000 database on a server can cause any weird issues. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank You!

It sounds like the application is not split? If not, it should be:

http://www.granite.ab.ca/access/splitapp/index.htm

In general, a later version should have no problems running the 2000 app. I have a number of 2007/2010 users running 2000 apps.

Thanks for the reply pbaldy. That has definitely something to do with our problem, since it was never split. We are working on this now. Thanks again.

No problem, and welcome to the site. Conventional wisdom is any application that will be used by multiple users should be split, or you can have all kinds of issues. I'm surprised it hasn't corrupted the db yet. Post back if you still have issues.
