    Tool lending application

    Hi All

I'm a newbie (again) to access having not used it for 10 years so i am stuck where to start. Basically what we have is a list of tools and they get booked out of stock and back into to stock to and from our fitters, but get signed in/out by another person. so i need to have a record of what tools have been booked in/out, for whom, by whom, date and their location. so i will need a table which shows where the tool is and a form to book it in/out of stock which will amend the table.

i appreciate this is starting from scratch but im lost with access, help will be very much appreciated. thanks

This link will show a schema for a library. I am sure you could adapt this to your needs as some of the tables would be extraneous.

Well it sounds fairly easy to be honest. I think you can do this using one table.

I would create a table, for example tblTools
Then put all relevant information in the table fields like ToolName, bookOutDate, BookInDate, SignOutName, SignInName.
Then base your form upon the created table.

Additionally you can make unbound textfields to search for criteria that returns records, like show me all records of tool that were lended out. Or search for tools that were returned.
This all depends on the amount of records your expecting to have. If you have less then 100 records you can just look at the table and find what your looking for, But if you have a lot of records then searching for criteria might be the way to go.

Let me know if i have answered your question or if you have more questions.

    Greetings,

    Jeroen

yes it probably does sound easy if you know where to start. thinking further, will this table be able to be updated according to the booking in/out form. i just want a list of the tools and be able to see where they are straight away, there will probably only be about 20 tools.
