    Question on input masks

    Good morning,

    I'm very new to access and i'm trying to write an input mask for a first/last name field where the first letter capatalizes automatically. Is the input mask the correct avenue and if so how do i write it? I can make the first letter caps through the > and continue but i'd like for the rest to continue on indefinitely as to not restrict the length of the field. Any help is appreciated.

    No, input mask would not work because names don't follow a uniform pattern.
    How to attach file: http://www.accessforums.net/showthread.php?t=70301 To provide db: copy, remove confidential data, run compact & repair, zip w/Windows Compression.

    I just learned this one. I am in Access '07. Open the form in design view, in this case select the name field and go into properties. Under 'event', select 'after update'. Click the down arrow and click on [event Procedure]. Now click on the ... button. A window will open with 2 lines of text. Notice that your field will be in the top line. In the middle type the following:

    XXXXX = StrConv(XXXXX, vpUpperCase)

    the XXXXX you need to put your field name
