Trying to revolutionise Children's Charity system and need help!!

I am giving myself such a headache!! Please help!! I have some knowledge of Access but am struggling now......

I work for a children's charity and I am trying to set up a system which matches disabled children to vounteers for "Buddying" based on things like mutual interests, availability, location, age etc. The system in place at the moment is in Excel and is just not working effectively.

I have set up two tables with almost identical fields in each, one for the volunteer and one for the child with the appropriate joins. I now need to develop a query that will firstly match the child with a volunteer based on the most matches and then list in ascending order to the volunteer with the least matches to the child. I also need it to be user friendly, ie users to be able to fill in a form (which I can do) based on the child's information and the query is run automatically with appropriate volunteers names come up based on the best match first.

    Can anyone help me???

If you could post some example data from your two tables -> and then give an example or two of which volunteer will be pulled up for each child.
Also - can you outline exactly when the 'appropriate volunteers names come up based on the best match first'?
How is the program going to decide which is the 'best match' - on what basis is best volunteer determined?
