    View Queries by Group

    Good morning,

I have moved from Access 2003 to 2010. In Access 2003 I was able to create query groups that contained shortcuts to queries in the main database. This worked great for us because we did not want to create user interfaces that required support- but we could have multiple queries in a database and have users look only in their query group.

The database I am using was created in 2003 and had those groups. Is there a way to view, edit and create a similar view in 2010?

    Thank you

Can you describe how you created/structured these groups? It would seem that it was part of your "security/management". I don't have 2010, but a little more info may help someone put your request into context.

    Good morning Orange,

In 2003 you can create groups in the database view. There is an option in the navigation panel where you can see the tables or queries or forms etc that is called 'Groups'. You select that option and create a new group name. Then you drop the shortcuts for each query into the appropriate groups. When users come into the database they can go to the group instead of the query view and see shortcuts to only the queries that apply to them.

The db I am using had those groups defined, but in 2010 I have not yet figured out how I can see or rebuild them.

    Thank you!

I think I have it- in the Navigation pane I selected 'custom' from my grouping options. In the right hand panel it allows me to create groups. Then I can drag and drop queries into those groups. I can't see the groups that were defined in 2003 - but it looks like I can recreate them. A fair amount of work, but better than nothing.
