A2010 compacting every time the DB is closed.

I have a weird problem that I cannot get to go away, nor can I seem to duplicate it in another database.

I have one database that compacts on close, every time I close it, regardless of whether the "compact on close" box in the options is checked or not. The box is unchecked, it compacts, the box is checked, it compacts. I don't get it. This is the only database that is like this and I am unable to duplicate it on ANY other database I created/have.

Has anyone else run into this before?

Never. Did you create the db or did someone else and maybe set up a macro to compact on close?

I created it new. Its the weirdest thing. No macros or code to compact on close. In fact, it only has 1 local table and 1 linked table to a back end, then I have 1 report and a module for error handling and a module for an audit trail. That's it. Nothing even runs when it opens. I have never seen this before, ever.

No it didn't exhibit the same issue.... but I found it...
Some how I must have inadvertently checked the "Clear cache on close" box in the options. I don't even use the feature so I am trying to think of why on earth I would have checked it to begin with. Anyhow, I uncheck it, and it stops compacting on close.

Never dealt with that either so did not know it would cause the C&R to run. Congratulations on finding solution and thanks for letting us know. We all learn something new everyday!
