    Opens as Read Only

    Hi All,

I've found some other posts about this, but nothing which deals specifically with what I'm trying to do.

I have a multi-user database installed on my server, with shortcuts for users to access the database (I will likely split the db in the future, but for now, it's a single file).

When I use the shortcut, some users are able to access it fine. Others receive a "Opened as Read-Only" error and are unable to write anything to the database. I'm not sure why this is happening for only specific users. I have ensured that all users are able to read and write to the the location of the db file.

    Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

PS - I'm using Access 2007/2010. I have the file with extension .accdr in order to prevent users from making changes to the format, etc. This worked fine previously, but doesn't function on some users machines.

actually it must be split, and each user must have their own front end. this aspect of the split is key.
