entering one value but storing another

I've been trying to find an answer to this, but have had no luck!

I've been creating a database for someone, and recently they posed me an interesting task.

Bassically I have a main table called adds, with several other tables linked to it.
Essentially the purpose of the adds table is store job adds, the other tables provide a list of possible entries into certain fields (ie. Duties table list all possible entries into the Duties field, of the table Adds).

I set up a form to allow him to enter more data into the database, most fields are multi value drop down lists. Now because he needs to enter lots of data, he want to enter the duties as 'numbers' (ie. enter 1,2,3) but still store corresponding duties (ie. leadership, teamwork, budget reconcilliation) in the adds table, to speed data entry up.

Is there a way to do this??

Here's a free data model concerning staff, tasks etc. It shows a lookup table of tasks where individual tasks are identified by a code and have a name and description. I hope you find it useful.
