    Conditional Table relationship?

So I'm working on a database which relates Studies to Study Targets. There are three types of Studies, each of which relate to a table of Targets w/ > than 50K choices.

Is there a way to create an Access relationship to the Target table which would be based on the study type?

    For example:

If the Study Type is Plants, then the relationship is to the Plant Table, but if the Study type is MicroOrganisms, then the relationship is to the MicroOrganism table.

That is the table to table relationship from Study to Target is conditional on the type of study?

    Thanks...

this should not be done. that's not normal. and it's also never necessary, IMO. or at least I've never seen it.

furthermore, access was not built to do this, nor was any other program for that matter!

you should have 1 tbl for studies and one for targets. one relationship
