Splitting a database - not a valid name error

Hi,

I am trying to split an access database but I get an error saying "not a valid name".
The funny thing is that the same file works when I split it onto my desktop.
As soon as I select a network drive (at my work) I encounter that error.
The whole purpose of the task is to split it on a network drive so that everyone has access to the backend, no good having the backend on my desktop.



Anyone else encountered this issue and if so, what is the resolution.

Are you relinking when you move the BE to the network drive? Hover over the linked tables in the FE to see where it is pointing?

Move the backend file from your desktop to the network drive. Then re-link the front end.

Does the error message include the entire path to show you what that contains?
Don't see why you can't split it on your pc then move the files to the server then relink tables and see if that works. If OK, then you give users a copy of the FE that they put on their local pc.

What do you mean, how will I know that? It’s a network drive.

My file doesn’t split so I can’t check the FE as no such file exists until my original file gets split

Move the backend file from your desktop to the network drive. Then re-link the front end.

There will be a wire coming into your computer if it is wired.
