Checkboxes in Query Designer and Table View

I have Office Professional 2019. I recently upgraded to Win11. If I open a table to view the data or create a query using the query designer, the Yes/No fields show up as a checkbox with a blue background. They previously had a white background.



I'm sure this is something with Win11, but I'm hoping someone here might have some thoughts for how to change it back.

I think you have up to a week's option to change back to Windows 10, if you feel that's really a sufficient reason.

If you have a lot of eye candy in your forms, why not consider something other than the tired old, mundane checkbox? Could probably find checkbox images...

This is not happening on a form.

Thanks! I took a look at the thread. I had wondered if it might be the Win11 theme carrying over. I'll investigate that some more.

It is also happening on forms. It is a concern to me that it shows up in table design view because it's a visual irritant to me.

So you've since discovered it's the style of control on the forms too? Maybe post a pic of what it looks like and you might get useful suggestions.
That doesn't look like table design view to me - it looks like a query. Users shouldn't be playing with queries and tables as a general rule, so that leaves forms as the main issue by the sounds of it. When it comes to M$ tweaking design, it reminds me of the lines "You will be assimilated. Resistance is futile." What the Access interface looks like now seems so boring compare to the XP days. I suppose it's like minimalist art.

Thank you, but it is an issue to me as a developer. I have a sensory processing sensitivity. When I open a table, the blue checkbox focuses my attention - it's very disruptive to my work.


Yes, the screenshot is of a query design window. However, the effect is the same when viewing table data. Here is a redacted view.

The only thing I was able to find relates to browsers under Windows 11, and there was an option to make them plain but it was an option in the browser. All I can suggest is try a continuous form instead of a datasheet view. If it's important, you can make a continuous form look like a data sheet, assuming that helps at all. If the cf doesn't fix it, scour through Access options carefully, and look for something that might affect the checkbox rendering. Until some of us catch up with W11 and 2019 I think we're all just going to be throwing darts at it (in the dark, no less). I for one will delay moving to W11 for as long as possible.

Thank you but it is NOT an issue with form design - it's an issue when viewing data as a developer.
