Access 2016, External Data,New Data Source, From File, Excel -- select the file and click append and I get an error about bad wizard

I tried their steps and got more errors, but nowhere do they say what wizard I should try to reinstall.....

    Try compacting or decompiling.
If that doesn't solve it, suggest you do an office repair

might have something to do with the library it is trying to reference, even if inactive - in an Access12 directory which is 2007 (as you can see). Your details suggest you are in 2016, so perhaps you need to delete this or replace with the 2016 version - perhaps 2007 is 32bit and you are running 64bit 2016?

well, access import is operating now. Still trying to get report to behave as I would like. https://www.accessforums.net/showthread.php?t=74575 I am finding Access very different from other programming systems and having some trouble adjusting. I appreciate the help.
