Confession - I don't know SQL and I heard Access is no longer being supported??

Is this correct? How long do you think before I will need to use SQL exclusively so that I can start learning?? Thanks!!

ALL versions of access work pretty good. No 'support' needed.

I have been 'hearing' these rumors for years and years - 'Access is dead', 'Microsoft is abandoning Access', etc.

Maybe MS isn't planning a new version (2017, 2018 or whatever) but that doesn't mean they won't continue to distribute and support 2016. I can't find anything indicating otherwise. Where did you get your info?

Newer Access version not really relevant to me. Perfectly happy to stay with 2010. Don't like changes incorporated in 2013 and 2016. Seems they lost more than they added.

I have not heard of any such thing.
Do you have a credible source or link, or is this just hearsay?

Oh, someone who likes to be an alarmist and consequently doesn't understand Access so is happy to freak me out by telling me it will die some day. The person used some network issues we have had with Access in the last few months as an example of how Access is dying. Something our IT department does in the background and doesn't update whatever they need to for the three of us at the entire place that use Access. The person was told that Access is dying by a software company we use so you don't have to use Access (but we all know if you want something custom, you use Access or SQL - no canned software will ever think of EVERYTHING we might need). Interesting the software company is saying this. A selling point for those that are not informed for sure. FAKE! I had a feeling this was a load of BS. Thanks for confirming and not calling me out for googling first :-). I was being lazy or maybe just needed to vent :-).

Well, maybe 'some day' but not in the near future and only if Windows version could no longer run Access already 'out there'.

I will probably be long gone first.

BTW, I read that Windows 10 is the 'last Windows' - https://www.theverge.com/2015/5/7/85...ion-of-windows And that was over 2 years ago.
