Easy question

This is probably very simple, as I am kind of a newb when it comes to access. My problem is, I cannot figure out how to edit or create a text imput mask for my email field on my form. I have another email field that works fine for the client, but the prospect email field is the problem one. Tried duplicating everything from that field, but still tells me that it is a numeric mask. when I create a new text/unbound mask, it doesn't save it to the list.



Am I doing something wrong? Well, I know I am, just cant figure out what...

What it the data type for the field and what formatting (if any) did you select?

In imput mask, there were only numeric on the list, so I tried to create a new one & it wont save.

I wish I could printscreen... It was 00->L<LL-00 I just deleted the field thinking it would default to text. It will now let me type text, but as soon as I try to click on another field on the form it says invalid because its a numeric field.

It was on Long Time format. I deleted that, and the data types I have to choose from are all numeric i.e. long time, short date, medium time etc. I just need to figure out how to create a new mask so it saves to the list when I click "close"

Don't choose a format if you're using it as a text field. Enter your mask and see how it works.

none of the other fields I have on my form have an imput mask, I mean if it were up to me I would like to not even go there, but for some reason, even if I put CCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCC, it still say value invalid because it is a numeric field or too big for fieldsize. It is probably something so obvious, or maybe not...

It really sounds like you need to look at your table.

What's the control source for that field, and when you look it up in the table, what are the properties for data type, field size, format, validation rule, etc...?

Description: The name listed when you view the list
Input Mask: The mask you want to use (look up the codes in help if needed)
Placeholder: What you want displayed in the field to show users what parts still need to be entered
Sample Data: Pretty much what it says - just enter something that can be used by your mask

To Save: Use the navigation buttons at the bottom to move to a different record/mask.

If you get an error, post the exact message.

YOU ARE THE MAN! I knew it was simple... It was set as a number on the table! that is so weird that was the only one, must have just messed up when puting it together...
