change an actual subreport (not just its data source) at run time

I have a standard report. At times the end user needs a completely different footer section (this occasionally requested / mandated by their cleints).
It may, or may not, contain the usual infarmation; it may, or may not, be formatted in a familiar format, and there is definetly NOT a finite number of requests.

It occurs to me that if I could for each request simply create a different subreport (to be inserted onto the footer, and consequently appearisng as the actual footer), and then give the user a method of choosing the standard or one of the customs... this would work...IF IS IS POSSIBLE to change, at runtime the actual supreport that is used...

    thoughts?

    with thanks in advance,
    mark

Untested, but I would try to change the SourceObject property of the subreport container in the report's open event.
