Entries automatically appearing

I am constructing a new database and have a table with members details. On a form I select a member from a combo box and it fills that fields and three other fields automatically. When I go back to the members table for some reason extra members entries have been inserted where the surname is changed to a number??? Any help appreciated. Thanks.

Make sure if the combo is bound to the field ,CONTROL SOURCE,
and that the BOUND COLUMN # is the name column, and not a # column.

Does the form RecordSource include the Members table? - probably should not

If so, I suspect the combobox ControlSource is bound to the wrong field.
