I've given you a copy of my Database.

If you look at relationships you'll see the main tables

Hazard class. Join. Specific hazname. Control data.

Control is a sub sheet of specific.

One to many relationship from Spec to Join and From Haz Class to Join.

Join contains other data like date reviewed, significance and harm (look up fields).



I want to edit control data keeping Class & Specific Haz Name in view.

Class is the general category under which the specific hazards are recorded and then control data added.

Problems Ive encountered:

Please advise the best way to present for editing on a form.

Options:

1. single form bound to joinhaznamespec with comboboxes to select Hazard_Class (note the underscore is missing from your actual field name) and SpecificHazName

2. main form bound to HAZNAME2 and subform bound to joinhaznamespec with a combobox to select SpecificHazName

3. main form bound to HAZSPECS and subform bound to joinhaznamespec with a combobox to select Hazard_Class

I'll have a crack. Just one note, the combo box - is it bound or unbound? What purpose is the combo box, does it select then store a value, or, is it just to keep that record in focus???

i can't seem to get the combo box to bring into focus the record I want. When I use the wizard i don't get the option of 'find record on my form based on value' ???

The combobox in subform is not to find a record, it is to select item from dropdown and save that value to record in joinhaznamespec. That's what a bound data control is for.

If you want to use a combobox as input for filter criteria, it must be unbound.
