    I am satisfied with the conclusion that you are trying to open template files generated in Access 2010 or later. You would experience a similar symptom if you tried opening an accde file that was created Using Access 2010.

    It seems very strange that Microsoft would provide templates with the program without making sure that they would work, but if that's your conclusion, I'll have to go with it, and stick to .mdb templates. Incidentally, I can create, save and reopen .accde files, but haven't seen any elsewhere to try. Thanks for all your effort.
