    Manually Split a Database

I manually split a database. I have one copy of the database on my PC and another copy of the database on our plant’s server. I deleted everything on the server’s database except the tables and deleted all of the tables on my PC’s database. I established the link to the server so everything is working as it should, I think.
The problem now is the SIZE of the two almost the same.

I would have thought the size of the database on the server would be very small compared to the size of the database on the PC. Am I looking at this wrong or did I miss something in my deletions.
    Thanks for any help.

try a compact & repair on them and see what happens to the filesizes. Also, i'm curious as to why you split the db yourself instead of just running the tool.

    Thanks for the reply,

I will try what you said. Why I split manually, I was getting a "Subscript Out Of Range" Message with the built-in Access split.

I was just trying to make the split happend. The way I did the split was to copy EVERYTHING to the server and delete all but the tables. I think the vast majority of the filesize is the fully functional accdb (All of the Access stuff).

Just wondering, is there a way to copy just the tables and still maintain the links like an Access generated split?

Agian many thanks for the reply.

I did what you suggested, compact and repair. That works.

    Thanks for the reply.
