Import of CSV, TXT files crashes Access 2002. Any hope?

I still use Access 2002 as I maintain a few old applications in Visual Basic 6 that use it.

But each and every time I try to manually import ANY .CSV, .TXT, or .XLS file Access crashes, with error report.
The dialog indicates it will attempt to repair the DB...

    Any hope?
    Any advice appreciated.

any suggestion you'll provide the code you are using for importing and what line of that code that causes the crash?

The code used is internal to Microsoft Access.

To manually import data files into Access users can select external text and CSV (comma separated value) file types amoung many others to import data to tables.
From the user menus, select File, External data, Import, select file, file type.

Maybe your DB does not know what an xlsx file extension is.

I'm not using .XLSX file types.

To resolve this I found a PC with Access 2003.

I do not open a single and unique Access file using multiple and different versions of Access. If I do, I expect to see a dialog like this. When I develop an application, I will use one version. If I develop in Access 2010, I will distribute applications that will be consumed by other versions. However, I will not allow different versions to open the same file. If I need to make edits to a distributed file, I edit my master copy and distribute a copy of the master.

Shared resources are linked to. The version of any files that are linked to match the oldest version on any given client.

What does the error report say?

Since you say 'But each and every time I try to manually import ANY .CSV, .TXT, or .XLS file Access crashes' I presume this is a recent occurrence. So either your 2002 application is corrupted in some way or as Itsme suggests, you are now using a different version of access (2007 according to your tag). Perhaps it is time to upgrade your 2002 file. 2003 and earlier uses the JET system, 2007 and later uses ACE - so perhaps your import specification is no longer valid
