Attachment fields changed to Memo fields

I developed a small database for a customer that included attachment fields in some of the tables. After a split the database and installed it on their LAN I discovered that the Attachment fields had been converted to Memo fields.

When I went into the tables to re-assign them as attachments that option was not available.

I developed the database in Access 2010. One customer machine uses Access 2007 and the other uses 2010. The machine I tried to modify the tables from runs 2010.

    2 questions:
Why were the fields converted when the files were placed on the LAN?
Why can I not re-assign the fields as Attachments.

I am at a loss on this. Quite a novice, know just enough to be dangerous.

No idea, never heard of that. I just tried to replicate. I have no problem opening backend Access file and selecting Attachment type.

You did not convert the backend to SQLServer or something else?

I did not do any conversion.

I placed the database in the LAN folder and then split it using the database tools, placing the backend in a subfolder of the database folder. I am going in there again today and will try to replicate the issue. The last time I did it I used a machime with 2007 on it. This time I plan to use a machine with Access 2010 installed. I will see if that makes a difference.

    Thanks
    Mike

I never used 'database tools' to split database. I just manually made a copy and deleted tables from one and everything else from the other then used Table Link Manager (or VBA code) to set links.

    back end attachments

I reinstalled from a thumb drive from a 2010 machine and it worked. I had split the DB before I put it on the network this time. I had to rebuild the data tables as the customer had added data, but not a big deal.
I will remember your caution in the future though and will split the table manually
    Thanks

I am not saying the database splitting wizard is bad (just never investigated it), however, your experience would make me wary of it. I do generally avoid the Access wizards.
