design view not workiing. help!

the 'design view' icon is grayed out. cannot access design view to make changes. need help ASAP.
FYI: ACCESS 2010. Windows 7. 64bit. my database is accdb.

Have you done a Compact and Repair yet? Have you set your Trusted Locations yet? Is your db Read Only?

When I try to do a Compact & Repair, I get error message that the "db is already open"????

I just went into Access Options and clicked on automatic Compact & Repair when closing db. Closed my db. Reopened and closed again - with error message: "Could not use [db filename] ; file already in use". Whatsup with that?

See if there are any db's in the current directory with the same name as your db.

Just setup trusted location.
Am still getting that error message about the "file already in use".
The DESIGN VIEW icon still is gray

I just save part of a new table I was working on. As soon as I hit 'Save as' it applied a globe over the table icon. My other table and form icons in my db also have those globes on them. I'm assuming it has something to do with the web? Does this globe have anything to do with the problems I'm having?

not trying to do internet db.
but eventually want to add it to Dropbox for access by 2 others.
Is that doable?
