    Exclamation Database wont open

Hi, I have a database that wont open. When i try and open it is says could not find file. I know the file is there, as when i have used the shift key to open the back end it came up then i had to update it from access 2003 to access 2007 so i converted it then it came up with the error. Is there an easy way to force it open???? Your help would be really appreciated. Thanks Sarah

Access 2007 is quite a bit different from ac2003 as you know. Have you set your Trusted Location yet? Will it open while holding down a <SHIFT> key? Do you still have the ac2003 version to work with?

Hi, No the shift key doesnt work when i try and open it. You can see all the tables etc in the back ground but then it comes up with the error. I have inheritated the database and no it hasnt been updated to 2007 as yet because i cannot open it to have a look at.

It sounds like it does not error out right away since it lets you look at it for a second or so. How about *importing* everything to a new, fresh db and see if the problem follows. Try holding down a <SHIFT> on the new db and keep it down 'til it errors. http://www.btabdevelopment.com/ts/impnew

You might be dealing with some corruption. Importing usually leaves it behind. Can you tell what it does not like and import all *but* that object?

Hi, It has imported the tables only and they all seem to have error's in them. I dont know what the previous people have done but it seems totally corrupted......

Could it be encripted? Can you see any forms or modules when you attempt to import? Could you just be looking at the BackEnd of an application?

I have to leave right now but I'll check back in when I return. I'll be gone for several hours.

Decript was the word for which you were searching but un-encript works just fine.

    Sarah

Try importing one table at a time and see if you can find the table that is corrupt.

hi, as you might be aware i not very experienced when it comes to Access. All i did was when i copied the files across i realized that i didnt do all the tab's and they all came in together. I think i have figured out which table is corrupt because that is the only one that didnt come across. Worst thing for me though it was the one with all the information in it....
