Hopefully not too dumb a question...

I've been handed a database created by someone else to get my head around (big mistake already) and every one of the Query icons in the Queries window has a large red exclaimation mark next to it. Is this indicative of a fault somewhere or some kind of data update required?

    Many thanks

    RL

    Hi,

they're action queries: queries that don't show data, but do something with the data:
green plus and exclamation mark = append query: add new records to an existing table
Red cross + exclamation mark = delete query: delete records from the table
table icon + exclamation mark = make table query: make a new table with the selected data
Pencil + exclamation mark = update query: updates the data in the selected records

Always be carefull when running an action query: once the data are updated/deleted there is no undo!

    greetings
    NG

Thanks Noella. I've no idea what to do with this. Think I'll track down the original data and set up my own database.

    Cheers,

    RL.
