    Question Opening Access

I am running Access 2003 on Windows 10.

All my DBs use VB6. I have no problem accessing the DBs via code.

However, recently, when I manually open any of my DBs, all I get is a blank screen. I do not get the database window. In the file drop down, I can open correctly, the last 4 DBs I had opened . For any other DB, I need to walk through the File Drop down and walk through the dir structure.

What could I have done for this happen? How can I fix it?

    Thanks

    Try an Office Repair

    Office uses VBA not VB6.

I ran the Office repair from the original CD. The program said "successful". No change in accessing MS Access.

Maybe post a pic? Can't tell if blank screen means no ribbon, no navigation pane - just blank screen. Probably not if you can invoke the file menu. Then my guess would be that you have a startup form that is not opening.

OK, that's not a blank screen, it's a blank database window. Big difference.
I haven't seen that version for maybe 16 years so someone else may be better suited to help. I still suspect you have a startup form or autoexec macro that is not behaving.

Did anything change, such as where the db is kept (so maybe code is not allowed to run because location is not Trusted)?
Is this on a personal pc or a corporate environment?
Check the db options for a startup form and the macro list for an autoexec.

Personal PC. This version does not have trusted locations. Of all the DBs I have, only one has an autoexec macro. All the others, more than 10, should open directly to the DB window.

Then if it's none of the above, my last idea is to create a new db then import everything into it from this problem db - unless this happens on your other db's as well. If that doesn't fix it, I'm out of ideas - unless you want to have it tested on other platforms. If you have no way to do that, consider copying db compact/repair, zip and post it here.

All my DBs are "problem DBs".

The problem does NOT exist on my friends PC. She has a WIN10 laptop with Office 2003 pro. Just like my Office

If you get this solved, please update your thread with the solution. As for me, I have no other ideas at this point.

Well I was going to suggest uploading a DB to see if it happens to others, but you have now covered that.
When did this start happening?, what updates have you had since?

This started several months ago, I would guess mid 2023.
Updates since then: MS, Edge, Chrome, MalwareBytes, McAfee, Glary, SuperAntiSpyware, Dell SupportAssist. If there were more, I don't remember

I created a new DB. Added a table and manually filled it. Saved the DB. Closed it.
On reopen, the DB did not open properly. It opened like the "Broken' jpg shown in entry 5 above.

The problem has to be with my pc. I have a shared folder, on my computer, with another computer. The shared folder has an .mdb file. On the other pc, I can open the file properly. On my pc, I cannot.
