Me too, but the VBA object model is HUGE if you factor in Office apps and VBA by itself. Plenty of melon-mushing concepts you could learn. That is also the reason I try to help out at Mr. Excel on the vba side of things; wanting to learn and keep the old noodle supple. However, it is keeping me from doing other things, and lately I've been thinking I ought to drop all of it for at least a while. But it's like a drug!

If you want a challenge, learn a new language; one that isn't all that different from VB6 in some aspects and would provide a foundation - and a RAD development environment.

I have reinstalled A2003Pro. The DB still does not open properly.

This is going to be my last question, when answered I am going to close this thread.

If I delete Office Pro 2003 from the computer and then install it again, what will happen to the Access jet engine. I know this is not part of Office.

I don't know. Maybe someone else does (possibly Isladogs).
These suggest it is part of a basic Windows/OS install

I'm not going to say any of them are correct; just that this is a search I'd make and review as many sources as I could before making a decision.
The only way to "close" a thread here is to mark it as solved, which this isn't. Even then it won't truly be closed. Anyone can post to it after marking it solved.

I thought the Jet engine was part of Access?

Maybe, but Office Pro 2003 does not have it.

Thank you. I thought, I remembered, that when I got Win 10 and installed Office Pro 2003, that the jet was not installed. I didn't want to remove Office Pro 2003, reinstall it and got no Jet.

    You are mistaken
Jet was installed with all versions of Access up to 2003 and for all newer versions, ACE is installed

OK so what are you going to try next?
Give up and put up with the situation? Upgrade to a newer version of Office? Reinstall Windows?

I do not know right now. The only Office available now, I think, is O365. If so, I am pretty sure that VB6 cannot link to O365. VB6 is important to me. I would rather not translate all my VB6/Access programs to Access/VBA, even though I can write VBA - the version of VBA that is in A2003.

And yes, I know I have a hard deadline of 10/2025 when WIN10 is no longer supported.

Have a look at this. You can get Office 2019 or just Access 2021. Compatibility with VB6 is OK. Just be sure to install 32 bit versions of Office products, especially Access.
