    Question Access wont open properly

I am running Win 10 Home and Access 2000.

Every so often I cannot open Access. The screen opens, but not the page with the table listings, query listings, etc. This happens when McAfee does not open. This has been going on now for over a year. McAfee tells how to fix Mcafee but not why it is happening. All my programs that use Access, update it properly. I just can't access it directly.

Today, however, after I fixed Mcafee, I still could not directly open Access.

    Any help would by appreciated.

    Thank you.

    did you try :
open the db holding the shift key
enter VBE: press ALT - F11
    menu: tools , references
do any items checkmarked say: MISSING

uncheck that item. it causes problems similar to this.

When I open the db, with the shift key, I get as I described before. There is no place to enter VBE. When I press ALT - F11, it open a bland VB6 screen.
In Access, there is no references under tools on the menu.
In VB6, all items under tools are not enabled.

Try disabling Mcafee for a moment.

Sometimes when I start the computer in the morning, McAfee is not running. I think that means it is disabled. When that happens, my Access db do not open properly. I don't understand the connection.
The usual fix, per McAfee is to open the task manager and restart McAfee.

When I open a db and get the db screen without the contents, I can open the file menu and walk through the directories to find the db I want and click on it. The db now opens correctly. If now I try to open it directly, it still does not work.

    Hi
Can you upload the database to see if it occurs on someone else's PC?
You can PM me if you need further help.

I copied one of my Access dbs into a shared directory. Then I went to the other pc and was able to open it correctly.

I then copied the file from the shared dir to the desktop of the other pc. It opened correctly.
