Gray line under labels of report's page header

I created a report automatically using the report wizard.

The result has field labels in the page header but there's this weird gray line under all the labels. If I add a new column (2022X, 2022Y, 2022Z in my attachment), the line isn't there which results in it looking strange.

Now I could just delete all the labels with the line under them and that fixes it, but I'm just curious if anyone knows what this is and how one could edit it. I'd hate to have to do this for every report where the line is present. I'd rather just keep the line and have it present for new label columns too.

I tried altering the labels background and border and that does nothing.

If you click on that "line" in design view what does the property sheet drop down say that the object is? It could be something other than a label. If it's a line, you can select them all and delete them if you don't want them.

So I've tried that. I can't click on it at all and it's not listed as an object in the property sheet

can you post a db copy with that report in it? Might need the supporting table/query for the report as well.

Of course. See attached. You'll see the gray line under the label headers of the report

Open your report in design view. Then do this to remove the layout grid constraining the report:
    This also works for Forms.
