Usually I have seen similar with connection to SQL backend server/tables (just looked at the linked article and says same). You might want to have the form open with a blank record to start, then have them use combo box or whatever to select the specific record.

Willkr I think that article he linked is spot on, did you read it? Sounds like the issue you are having. Is your backend SQL?

Yes, I read the articles (several times) and I apologize if my frustration rears it's ugly head once in a while. I don't typically post a question here unless I have already done my own research, although sometimes I do get lazy.
Thanks for all your help, guys.
willkr,
How can this statement have any truth in it?

I agree with Bulzie. I also agree with Welshgasman.
When you post a single line to describe a problem and you get a response that has all the features you described, it has to be helpful. Even if it is not 100% your issue, you have at least been directed to an article that provides some context for any further action you wish to take.
Members of the forum are unpaid volunteers who offer their time and experience to advise/assist others with issues/opportunities. They are not mind-readers nor are they clairvoyant. They do not know you, your experience, your business , the context of your issue nor any related history.
It also helps if you clearly define the problem; even provide a before and after drawing/example of what you seek. And, once you find a solution/workaround post it, it may help someone else.
