How to change highlight color

I have a form that I use in several places (I simply do a copy/paste to create the new form). When I change the background color on one of the copies, the highlight color does not change (causing some weird color combinations). How do I change just the highlight color?

As additional information, I have a picture (a gradient jpg image) as the background.

what do you mean by 'highlight colour'?

By "highlight" color I mean the background color of an item in a list that is currently pointed to.

And whilst clarifying that - also clarify whether you are talking about a single form, a continuous form or a listbox

In a listbox, the selected record is 'highlighted' so that the forecolor & backcolor are complementary colors to the rows not selected.

The background color of the detail section of the form has no impact on that whether or not you use a gradient fill
In fact one of the issues with gradient fills is ensuring sufficient contrast with the text colors
