    Update Error

Hi guy's, can you help me please ?

how do i fix this error ?

I ran an update query from a After Update event on a datasheet and came up with this error

1 particular record most fields were in symbols rather than text

When i manually changed the data to correct field/format, i am coming up with this error

I am going to try and create another backend table and export data excluding the record that is causing the problem!!!

I think it maybe table corruption ?

When i run the same update into another table, it works ok!!!

Yep, copied structure of the table and pasted all records apart from the affected record, back to normal

I hope there were not a lot of records?
    How often do you backup?
Could you have not used a query and excluded that one record?

WGM, not enough should do every week to be honest, i guess just backing up the backend file is likely more important.....

I have various copies of front end file, i know you have a function that backs up which perhaps i should follow

You can just use Task Scheduler to copy the BE at a certain time, or run a batch file to get a date and time suffix with the file.
My backup was manual, but I could use it on either FE/BE whenever I felt the need.

Thats handy to know, i will look into task scheduler, is this windows integrated ?

Not sure how to use a batch file, have seen the extension before .bat but not used/worked with

just about to post a new thread, struggling to find out the easiest method to update numbers in sequence

going back to your suggestion, thank you as always and i need/must do something to back up more often than i don't now

Please reply to this thread with any new information or opinions.
