    Date/Time Autofill Issue on Datasheet

Hello, I have a simple datasheet that I use to log samples entering our lab. The date/time received autofills in the row under the one I am entering data in. In the pic below I entered data for the sample in the first row on 2/20/23 10:04:03 AM but it places the timestamp on the row under when my data is. Is there a way to have access auto input the timestamp on the row I am inputting data on? I have also included the property sheet for the date received field from the corresponding table.

The time you are seeing on the new row is the default value for a new record.
If you press F5 you will see it refresh with the current time and date.

The only way to update an existing record with a current time stamp is in a form with an after update event, or you could use a data macro on the table, but that can lead to unexpected consequences as it will lead to it updating whenever someone changes the record.

If I may, what Minty means is that what you're looking at isn't actually a record as denoted by the asterisk/star on the left. If you look at the table, that value won't be there unless you've done something to cause the record to be saved. If you don't want to see what you're seeing, remove the default property setting you have for that field.
@Minty; sorry if I've misinterpreted what you wrote.

@Micron - no problem, we have both interpreted it in the same way, just you've used better words to describe it, I think!
