    Multiple Users

I manage an Access 2007 database with multiple users. Some of the users get into the database from a laptop from home via wireless connection or VPN. We are having issues where opening the database takes 2 hours (from home) and sometimes does not open up at all. When it does open, there is an error displayed and they have to shut down. This causes corruption and lots of problems. Does anyone know of a solution?

I would consider this a networking issue.

    Nettie,

you most likely won't get an answer here. google something like "ms access vpn". VPN is something that won't yield much response on this forum as it is not asked very often, if at all.

it might yield it's own problems that others have never heard of. other problems might be abound with your database as well....such as size, connection speed, bandwidth of the network, memory cap, etc... if all of those are involved with heavy traffic that'll spell disaster for anyone opening it.

    Here are some thoughts:

I have successfully implemented applications that run remotely, but I use SQL Server as the back end and designed them with the remote issue in mind.

I stand partially corrected. Thanks Paul for saving us.
