I was wondering if anyone could help me with the database design for an Inventory Control DB. I am new to access and have been searching the net for anything access related (a lot). I have tried several times to create this db and each time I start over because I structured it completely wrong.
My question is " Should I create 1 transaction table with a field for trans_type or create a table for each Trans_type". Now I have tried both ways and used many templates and the web has samples that use both structures. Where I have trouble is when it comes time to actually calculate the inventory. I know I should not store calculated values so I use a form or report to do this. Could someone please point me in the right direction ( Just need DB Structure). The trans_types are "Order, Receive, Usage, & Shrinkage". I also want to track & create Purchase Orders. Please get me going straight and I will figure out the rest. Thanks for any help that I receive, as I know everyone is very busy.
