An audit trail is a series of records of computer events, about an operating system, an application, or user activities. A computer system may have several audit trails, each devoted to a particular type of activity. Auditing is a review and analysis of management, operational, and technical controls.
I thought that was clear in my initial posting.

Actually it's not - I still don't understand why you would run an audit event on the current event.

I look at record 23 , then look at record 24, without changing anything.
The current event has fired. What have you audited?
And my point about the before update event still stands.

    Did you test it?

As mentioned earlier I have solved the problem by using only one button. The reason I use the current event is on a video on cascading combox the author said to use both.

Look about half way in the video

Yes that makes perfect sense for a cascading combo.
But not for an audit trail. Do you understand when the current event fires?

If not, you should - it fires every time you move from one record to another, regardless of any change of data.
So it's perfect for keeping things like cascading combo's or other interdependent form controls "In Sync" on each record.

But it means you would have a Audit record every time someone simply skipped through a bunch of records.
If that's what you want the fine, but I can't imagine it is.

I agree that what you are doing is cascading combos, not audit trail. I like Richard Rost and often reference his videos when responding to posters. However, in the quoted video you gave, I don't think he is handling zipcode when he changes state and city. I could be wrong because I am having internet issues today - but the zip code after he has updated state doesn't change.
