I am having a problem that many others have had. I have a split database used by about 10 people at the same time. I sometimes need to do maintainence on the backend but can't because I don't have exclusive acces to the backend. One of the solutions I found suggested was to have a hidden form on start up with a checkbox. The form's timer event checks the checkbox every 5 minutes to see if it is checked. If it has been checked by me the database closes on all the other machines. I have the hidden form, have set the timer and am looking for code for the timer event.
I would like a message box to be displayed with a message that the database will close in two minutes (no problem there). Here is the problem: How can I get access to count the two minutes in the background and close access when they have elapsed. Access should close irrespective of the fact if the OK button on the message box was clicked or not.
