    using form to update database

    I am very new with access. I want to use form (I think) to input data that will update the database. For example, I have four fields that will be used to make up a record and there are 100 records. Each field can be inputted separately, however, in the database I have put in the first column a list of labels. In the forms section, there are four fields which correspond to the database, however, when I input the label in the first field on the form (and the data thats associated with the first field (or record) it needs to match the database. Each column, with the exception of one, will keep a cummulative tally. thx for any thoughts you may have on how to set this up!

    Welcome to the world of Access database programming!

    It is almost always best to use a for for data entry. I avoid entering data directly into tables.

    I am not sure I follow what you are trying to do. Will you post a sample of your database or at least a screen shot of the form?

    Thx HiTechCoach. I after I posted my query I stuck with it for another 30 minutes and got it worked out. The form works like I thought it should by setting up a box listing all the labels, having a second box and third as input for my data while the fourth box calculates the difference. I then went to the database and it was updated correctly. thx. I'm sure I''ll be back with more questions.
