Question Adding related record when filling out form bound to main table

Pardon the confusing title. There's a main form where you record incoming returns information. It uses a combo box to select a customer code from existing customers. Customer codes are a primary key on the customer table and the customer must exist already to add a record to the returns table. Currently, if a customer doesn't exist, I have to close the form and go add to the customer table before returning. No good!

What I'd like to do is pop open a little "add customer" form that can be done in the flow of filling out the main form without disrupting it. Creating that add customer form and popping it out is no problem, but the main form does not retrieve the new record to work with, it still thinks it doesn't exist. Is it possible to refresh the related record set while the form is still active (not closing and reopening) and without clearing data from form?
