    Question "In use by another person or process " error

    experience tells me this is my fault, can you help me to see how?

    i have a members database.
    i have a members table that is linked one to many with dues table. when i try and link the pkID of members to the FKID of dues i get this (see above). this is a stand alone application run exclusively by me. waz up with that?? thanks

    You have a query, report or form open that uses at least that table?
    Or you have a version of that db open that perhaps didn't terminate properly, in which case, check Task Manager for more than one open instance.
    You have run code that has put one or both of the tables in edit mode.
    Since it's not possible that it is a shared db, then doubtful someone else has a lock on that table, otherwise also a reason why you'd get that message.

    after a lot of tweaking i now get this:

    both the primar key and fk are single fields. the pk is auto number, the fk is large number....???

    autonumber and BigInt (if that's what you mean by "large number") are not the same data type. Autonumber is of type Long.
