Rather than identifying the workbooks with "space" typos I am going to incorporate the TRIM function into a master-query that will eliminate the need for "space" reporting. I currently have a query that identifies typos (not space related) and unknown workbooks so this should suffice as long as the TRIM function removes spaces.

The Trim() function removes Leading and Trailing spaces.

I'm going to include the TRIM function in a masterquery to eliminate the spaces from any budgetworkbook data. I have a query that identifies any unknown workbook, so as long as the spaces are removed by the TRIM function, this should suffice.

    Disregard last post.

The "unknown workbook" query picks up leading spaces and spaces w/in the name. I am still unsure why it does not pick up trailing spaces though.

Did you try the Binary Compare yet to see what it does? I've not used it but knew it was there.

I haven't. I am a little timid to try it as I am meeting with someone tomorrow concerning the DB and would hate to have any unexpected downstream from the Binary Compare.

I understand. Much better to resolve it with a method you trust. Are we as solved as we can get or would you like to take this thread a little further?

Let's leave this open until tomorrow afternoon when I can try the Binary compare to let you know how that works.
