Error pasting records from Excel

Hi


I am in trouble pasting new records on an access table from Microsoft Excel rows.


Access table has four fields : Name, Date1, Date2 and Turn (text field)
Same format is used for Excel cells.




When first excel-row's cell-Turn has a numeric value an error is triggered and all rows containing an alfanumeric value in turn-cell area are omitted.
If first excel-row's cell-Turn has an alfanumeric value, pasting works fine.

you could try Transferspreadsheet.

Excel does not make it easy for importing data to other applications.

excel does not have datatypes so access (or any app that uses datatypes) makes a judgement call based on the first few rows to decide how it is going to treat the data - long/double/text/date.

Recommend you use transferspreadsheet or other vba process so you can make sure you can control the data you are importing

Alternatively

sort your data so there is a blank (which will be treated as text) or alphanumeric value at the top
or put a single quote before the first value so it is viewed as text
or save the file as a .csv
