    Demise of Access?

I've been handling an Access database for a local nonprofit for ten years or so now. They just informed me that they're looking at migrating to something else for their inventory control needs, because "Microsoft is not going to support MSAccess much longer" or words to that effect. I heard those kinds of rumors 20 years ago, and here I am/here it is, still plugging away. Doesn't trouble me all that much as I'm happily retired and just supporting them for the fun of it, but still ... anybody heard anything to suggest that the Cloud and Office 365 are going to result in Access fading away? That would be a big deal, I should think, and I certainly haven't read or heard anything about it.

even IF they quit support, the access app would still be there and work.

MS are now investing more time and effort on Access than has been the case for many years.
There is a 'road map' for future developments
It is definitely NOT about to be discontinued nor will it stop being supported in the foreseeable future.

I'd be interested in knowing how the non-profit could explain its conclusion. Fake news?

Here's one link to the MS 365 roadmap https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/micr...admap?filters= but I've seen others with additional details.
The Access program manager is currently Ebo Quansah. He gave a presentation on future plans at the virtual Access Devcon in April. The slides are available at http://www.donkarl.com/Downloads/dev...cessUpdate.pdf. A recording is also available from the same website

Okay, thanks to all. I've shared your info with my client to counter their apparently erroneous beliefs, whatever they decide to do is on them.
