Hi, I am a SQL server DBA and would advise strongly against triggers here. They kill your performance and cause a lot of troubles in the front end apps.
Data integrity should be ensured by creating the correct table structure and contraints: PK's, FK's and not null or unique constraints in your indices. See also advice #9 from Avril.
You can also use procedures where you wrap the actions within transactions and use the try/error to rollback where necessary.
